On a serious note…
Another friend of mine from high school, and a former co-workers son died in the early hours of Saturday morning in a gruesome small-plane crash that took the lives of four young men just near our local airport.
While nobody knows how it happened at this point, it sounds as though drinking was a factor. At first they couldn’t even figure out how many fatalities there were because there were so many body parts. It absolutely breaks my heart to hear that and know that I knew two of the four people involved.
I’ve lost 6 classmates in the past ten years. That may not seem like a lot to some of you, but it’s a lot for me. I was a social butterfly in high school and was friends to some extent with the majority of my classmates. Just this past December we lost one to suicide, and I was closer to him than any of them.
I feel as though this is a fitting time to reflect on those friends. I miss each one of them, and this most recent one is a big shock to our community. I wish each of their families comfort in this time and hope they find peace to get through it.
